Step 5: Write a short cover note. Write a cover note to the employer, which will be followed by your e-resume in the body of the email message. It’s important to keep the note short. Here’s why: You can get the most impact from your email presentation if the employer doesn’t have to scroll his email message to see that it contains a resume. This can be achieved by keeping your cover note brief. Click here to see some sample email cover notes. Once you’ve composed your cover note, do the following: A. Convert it to Text Only or Plain Text and adjust it according to Steps 1 and 2 in this section. B. Set the margins so that no line exceeds 65 characters and spaces, and then save the document as Text Only with Line Breaks (see Steps 3 and 4). C.
